The Österdal River, with its beautiful flowing waters, is the main river in the area. It stretches for almost 20 km between the Åsendammen and Väsadammen dams. The area offers fantastic fishing conditions in magnificent scenery. The river alternates between faster and slower sections of flowing water as it winds its way through the valley.

The Österdal River is predominantly known for its excellent grayling fishing, although it can also offer really good trout fishing. The river, which is generally very easy to wade in, primarily attracts fly fishing enthusiasts. The fishing spots along the river are easy to get to, and a number of shelters and campsites have been built along its route.
